Terms And Conditions

RULES FOR THE 2014 PRESIDENT’S CUP HELD AT MAPLE RIDGE EQUESTRIAN FARM 
•    The Tack and Togs President’s Cup – Adult and Young Riders
•    The  Chambourne 18 year and under President’s Cup
•    The Martin Collins Pony Riders President’s Cup-
•    The Cup comprises three competitions, prizes will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd
and third competitions. (Three individual classes separate overall winner of the title)
•    The total penalties incurred in each of the three competitions count towards the overall 
Winner
•    Each competition takes place on a different day. 
No Athlete may ride more than two horses in the Championship but for the other classes there is no restriction on the number of horses an athlete may ride.       
SUBSTITUTIONS
Once the first competition itself has started no substitution of horse or athlete is permitted for the overall Championship itself, but in the first and second competitions, as individual competitions, substitutions will be permitted in accordance with SASJ General Regulation 01.18.0
CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION (As per section 27 of SAEA Rules)
The President’s Cup Championship comprises: 
Three competitions, each taking place over different days. The total penalties incurred in each of the three competitions (excluding Jump Offs) count towards the final overall placing.
       First Competition :( As per section 27 of SASJ Rules)
The first competition is judged under Rule FEI Article 238.2.1 (SAEA 17.10.4.2.1(Table A2) at a speed of 350mpm.
Second Competition-The second competition is conducted over two rounds, the first round over the full course judged on Table A not against the clock, and the second round over a shortened course (eight fences including at least one double combination) judged on Table A against the clock at a speed of 350 metres per minute.  (SAEA Rule 18.10.3.3.2)
Participation
    Horse and Athlete combinations that have not entered the first competition may compete 
    in the second but only horse and Athlete combinations that have taken part in the first 
    and second competitions may be considered for placing in the Presidents Cup.
Third Competition       
    The third competition is conducted over two rounds, each judged under Table A not against the clock at a speed of 350 metres per minute (SAEA Rule 18.10.3.3.2)

PLACINGS FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP (As per section 27 of SAEA Rules)
•    The placing is determined by adding together for each competitor the penalties incurred in the first competition, the two rounds of the second competition and in the two rounds of the third competition. 
•    If there is equality of penalties for first place, there will be a jump-off against the clock at a speed of 350m per minute over 6 obstacles including a combination. Should competitors refuse to compete in the jump off they will forfeit their final places and any prize money received during the event. The order of riding in this jump-off shall be the same as that for the last round.  If, after the jump-off there is a tie for first place, the competitors concerned will be placed equal first.
General Regulations:
•    Passports: All horses entered must have an official FEI or SAEf Passport.
•    All passports must have the African Horse Sickness and Equine Flu Vaccinations endorsed in the passport to the effect that the horse has been vaccinated as prescribed within the prescribed period. Competitors will be fined in respect of any passport omissions or errors(See General Regulations)
•    The Veterinary Delegate must pass all Open Horses only at the arranged inspection time before being allowed to compete. Valid passports correctly completed must be presented at the inspection. 
•    Only Open horses are eligible to compete in the 1.50, 1.40,1,35 and 1,30m classes 
Horses will enter this section and will each day declare as to whether they will compete in 1.50, 1.40, 1.35 0r 1.30m classes.  Only horses that have passed the horse inspection will be allowed to compete in the 1.35m, and higher classes
Nominations for Wed 19th March to be received no later than Monday 17th March 20.00p.m 
If not received the horse will automatically be entered in the first 1.30m class 
•    Declaration for all classes subsequent to the first day must be made in writing within 30 minutes of the conclusion of the last class of the previous day. If no declaration is made the horse(s) concerned will remain on the same level, i.e.1.35, and 1.30 1.40 or 1.50 m as the previous classes. 
Cross Entries 
•    Presidents Cup classes are excluded from the below.
•    Riders are restricted from competing in more than 3 classes for the event (Other than young riders that enter the additional Young Riders series class)
•    The only restriction on cross entries is that
1)    No rider may ride over the same course  competitively in more than one competition
2)    The rules regarding nominations will be strictly applied – all nomination must be handed in no longer than 30 minutes after the last class of the previous day.
•    Late, telephonic, incorrect, entries unaccompanied by the correct payment will not be accepted. 
•    It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure that their payment has been received by the Organizing Committee.
•    The Organizing Committee in consultation with the SAEF Representative reserves the right to cancel, combine or restrict classes on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis in light of entries received.
•    Neither the Sponsors, Maple Ridge Equestrian Farm, FEI, SAEF nor their representatives or officials will be held responsible for any loss, damage, theft or injury sustained by horses, riders, appointed officials, the public or their property whatsoever.
The provisional show program will be adhered to as far as possible, but the Organizing Committee reserves the right, in consultation with the SAEF Representative, to make such alterations as it deems necessary due to unforeseen circumstances. 
•    It is up to the competitor to check riding times.
•    All Open Classes will be judged under FEI rules, all other competitions are judged under SAEF Rules. There are no restrictions on the number of horses a rider may compete with in classes other than the Presidents Cup classes.
•    Prize Money Levy 15%  CSN classes only Only

PROTESTS / APPEALS    To be valid, all Protests and Appeals must be made in writing and accompanied by a deposit of R500 for National Events and R400 for Provincial Events.
All Equine Flu and African Horse Sickness vaccinations must be up to date

Additional Notes

Important Note regarding The Horse inspections: 
•    Wednesday 19th March the Inspection takes place at 7.30 am and is compulsory for all Adult Horses in the 1.30 and above Adult classes. If 1.30 Adult Horses intend to remain in the 1.30 classes for the duration of the show THEY NEED NOT attend the horse inspection.
•    The riders competing in the 18 year and under  1.30 President’s Cup and  The Pony Rider 1.10/1.15 President’s Cup – vet inspection will take place on  Friday 21st March 7.00 am
Stallions will take precedence at the Inspection between 07h.00 until 07h.30
